Lewis County 72-Hour Release Window
No official Lewis County three-day release view was found. The county detention page still embeds an external inmate-list address, yet that host did not resolve during the research. Since the Lewis County Detention Center closed in 2021, the old link cannot establish current custody, post-release retention, a photo, an update schedule, or any 72-hour window.
A valid three-day check follows people across agencies. The Lewis case can show a release order or other legal event. The sheriff may document transport. The receiving jail records booking and physical exit. Kentucky VINE can send a status alert. For a state sentence, KOOL and KDOC records provide a separate statewide layer.
Check Lewis County Three-Day Releases
First identify where the person was held. Reports document Mason County as the immediate destination after the local jail closure. Lewis Fiscal Court agendas from later years describe Rowan County Detention Center as a place that may house adult prisoners if needed. Neither fact identifies the custodian in an unnamed case.
- Set exact start and end dates for the three-day period, including the relevant time zone.
- Use the Lewis court case or transport information to identify Rowan, Mason, or another actual receiving jail.
- Ask that jail whether it maintains an existing release log for the range, or request the named person’s booking/release sheet.
- Search VINE and preserve the reporting agency, event label, and alert time.
- For a state-sentenced person, compare each day’s KDOC Daily Releases PDF with the DOC ID and current KOOL status.
- Confirm that the disposition means community release rather than transfer to another authority.
The Released Last 24 Hours page narrows the same method to one day. A wider window is useful for date uncertainty, but the evidence standard stays the same.
Lewis Three-Day Release Fields
Because there is no working county list, these are responsible request fields rather than columns claimed from an online feed. Ask for records the receiving jail already keeps. Name the committing agency and date range so the request does not require the custodian to research a new answer.
| Field | Reason to request it |
|---|---|
| Full name and identifiers | Separates the intended person from similar names. |
| Booking number and booking time | Links the record to one custody episode. |
| Arresting or committing agency | Connects the out-of-county booking to Lewis County. |
| Actual release date and time | Places physical exit inside or outside the three-day range. |
| Release type or disposition | Distinguishes bond, time served, court order, parole, or transfer. |
| Destination | Identifies another custodian when the person did not enter the community. |
A court order may fall inside the period while jail processing ends later. Keep the order time, alert time, and release time as separate facts. The jail’s timestamped movement or release record controls the physical-exit question.
Lewis Weekend Release Checks
A three-day range often overlaps a weekend or holiday, but no Lewis-specific weekend release practice, daily release hour, exit point, or reporting lag was found. Do not promise that releases occur at a set hour. Do not assume a record will post on the next business day. Ask the receiving jail how its existing records mark the event.
Court timing and jail timing also differ. A judge can enter a bond or release order, yet another hold can prevent physical release. A dismissal ends the named charge, not every possible basis for custody. When the range crosses nonbusiness days, check the docket event and then obtain the jail’s release sheet rather than inferring the gate time from the court filing.
A VINE alert can arrive quickly, but it is a notice rather than a certified discharge record. Kentucky event labels include Advanced Release, Release by Court Order, Parole Notification, Home Incarceration, Shock Probation, and Return to Custody. Read the precise label before describing what happened.
Kentucky Three-Day State Releases
KDOC publishes one Daily Releases PDF for state-sentence activity. Three files can be combined to examine a three-day state period. The lists carry name, DOC ID, institution, and type of release. This is a meaningful Kentucky source, but it covers state offenders statewide and must not be relabeled as a Lewis County jail list.
The official Daily Releases format shows how state events are recorded. Match the DOC ID in KOOL to confirm identity and read the current status. Parole or Mandatory Reentry Supervision means release from confinement with supervision still in force. A later KOOL return-to-custody status may supersede an older daily event.
A county detainee who never entered KDOC custody may not appear. For that person, a three-day KOOL search is the wrong test. Use the receiving jail and Lewis court records. Federal sentenced custody is checked through BOP only when a federal basis exists, while ICE and U.S. Marshals matters require their own custodian and court records.
Request Lewis Three-Day Records
The elected Lewis County jailer remains the named custodian for historical Lewis jail records. The county records policy supplies a mailing route at 112 Second Street, Room 104, Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179 and fax 606-796-0822. For an old stay, identify the booking period and ask for the existing booking/release sheet, movement record, disposition, and destination.
For custody after closure, send a parallel or primary request to the jail that held the person. Ask for records of releases during the exact range where the committing or holding agency was Lewis County, if such a log already exists. Otherwise request a specific person’s sheet by name, identifier, approximate booking date, and facility. Request native electronic form when available and accept lawful redaction.
Lewis County’s posted policy describes a written response in five days excluding weekends and legal holidays. It lists ten cents for a noncommercial paper page, actual postage, and no charge for an existing digital record emailed in digital form. A receiving county can publish different terms, so check that custodian’s current instructions.
Lewis Release Evidence Compared
Three days of data can contain different events for the same person. Rank each source by the question it answers instead of forcing them into one timeline too soon.
| Evidence | What it proves | Key limit |
|---|---|---|
| Receiving-jail release sheet | Physical exit and stated destination | Only that facility’s custody |
| Lewis court order | Legal release or disposition authority | Not exact exit processing |
| VINE event | Status notification from a supplied feed | Can lag, age out, or be corrected |
| KDOC Daily Releases | State-sentence event on a date | Not a county detainee list |
| Current roster | Possible present custody when current | Removal does not prove release |
If sources conflict, use the jail record for physical exit, the signed order for legal authority, and KOOL plus KDOC documents for state operational status. A VINE notice is an alert to verify. No result from the obsolete Lewis roster remains inconclusive.
Note: Preserve the stated release mode. Transfer, parole, bond, time served, and discharge do not mean the same thing.
